[DMANET] Edmond J. Safra Center for Bioinformatics - Postdocotral fellowship at TAU

Purpose

The Edmond J. Safra Center for Bioinformatics at Tel Aviv University (TAU)
offers postdoctoral fellowships to researchers wishing to join the
thriving, cutting-edge bioinformatics research conducted at TAU. TAU's
bioinformatics community spans over 100 researchers in nearly forty
research groups across four faculties.

Who can apply?

1. Researchers in the area of bioinformatics. Researchers with a PhD from TAU are not eligible.

2. The applicant must be a researcher who has completed a PhD from a
recognized institution of higher learning (in Israel or abroad), or who
has completed the requirements towards PhD degree and his PhD thesis is
under review.

3. Applicants must start their postdoctoral fellowship at TAU within
five years from the approval of their doctorate degree.

General requirements

1. The application must be supported by a researcher who is a member
of the Center, who agrees to be the candidate's advisor. (For a list of

2. The research project will be carried out entirely at TAU.

What does the fellowship include?
1. Fellows will receive a fellowship of 137,000 NIS per year.

2. Half of the fellowship will be paid by the Center, and half by the
advisor.
3. The fellowship can be extended for a second year. Extension is
subject to a satisfactory progress report and the advisor's support.

4. Fellows will receive USD 1,000 from the Center for travel to
international conferences to present their research.

5. Fellows will dedicate full time to the research. Additional work
outside TAU is not allowed.

When to apply?

Applications can be submitted at any time.

How to apply?

The applicant needs to provide the following documents:
1. CV

2. List of publications

3. Certificates and transcripts of grades of all academic degrees:
BSc, MSc, PhD.

4. A certificate of award of PhD, noting the date of degree award, or
a letter attesting to the submission of a PhD thesis for review.

5. Recommendation letter of the advisor at TAU. The letter should be
sent by the advisor directly to the Center's administrator (see below).

6. Three reference letters from researchers from recognized
institutions of higher education, including recommendations of the
candidate's advisors in MSc and PhD. One letter should be from a
researcher who is not from the university where the candidate completed
his doctoral studies. Letters should be sent by the referees directly to
the Center's administrator (see below).

7. Research proposal – up to three pages, confirmed by the advisor
at TAU.

Approval is subject to conferral of the status of postdoctoral fellow by
TAU.
