by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG), is accepting
applications for Fast Track Stipends (800 EUR per month)
at the University of Trier for a period of one year beginning April 1, 2018.
The fast track stipends require the attendance of lectures or seminars in
the mathematical Master program of Trier University in the amount of at
least 40 credits as preparation for a PhD project. Upon positive evaluation
after completion of the stipend year, the successful candidate will be directly
accepted into the ALOP PhD program (83% TV-L E12, duration 3 years).
The ALOP research topics are devoted to all mathematical aspects of
algorithmic optimization with an emphasis on applications, in particular
in large and big data, as well as systems models from economics. The doctoral
research positions after the stipend phase do not involve teaching duties.
At the time of hiring, applicants must hold a BSc degree (or equivalent)
in mathematics or a closely related field. They should be able to
communicate in English and document their interest in the scientific goals
of the research program of the Research Training Group. Excellent programming
skills are a plus.

- copies of degrees earned (in German or English translation)
- the bachelor thesis
