Within the framework of the Swiss National Science Foundation project
``Higher-dimensional geometric and combinatorial structures'' *two
Doctoral Fellowships are
available*. The tentative start date is January, 2018 (or at an earlier
convenience). Each position has duration of maximum *four years*. All
candidates must hold a Master's degree, or an equivalent.
In addition to working towards their Doctoral degree, the successful
candidates are expected to assume teaching duties, and to master a working
level of French within a year from the start date. They are also expected
to collaborate in research seminars and perform other related tasks.
The doctoral study will concentrate in the areas of *hyperbolic geometric,
geometric topology, group theory, and related topics* (e.g. geometry of
polyhedra and manifolds, as well as its connections with Coxeter groups and
combinatorics).
These positions carry a competitive salary which starts at
approximately *42'000
CHF per annum* (gross income).

photo), *letters of recommendation* (no more than two) and a *statement of
purpose* explaining candidate's academic background, achievements to date
and research interests within the project.
