The Research Center for Operations Management at KU Leuven (Belgium) is offering a position for a full-time PhD student or postdoctoral researcher. The position is associated with the FWO research project "Optimization and Analytics for Stochastic and Robust Project Scheduling", which involves the design, theoretical analysis, and practical implementation of optimization methods for project scheduling and similar large-scale planning problems under uncertainty.
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with a strong background in mathematics, computer science, operations research, or a related field. Knowledge in combinatorial optimization (network and scheduling algorithms, mathematical programming, ...) and programming skills are an asset.
KU Leuven is the largest university of Belgium and ranked among the top 50 universities in the world. Leuven is a beautiful and liveable city with a large and international student population in the heart of Europe, only a 20min train-ride from Brussels. Our faculty is located in the historic city center, just a 5min walk from the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Groot Begijnhof".
We offer an employment as full-time doctoral scholar for initially one year, renewable for up to four years after positive evaluation, or a postdoctoral position for up to 3 years. Salary is competitive and funds for conference travels, participation in summer schools, and other activities are available. The tentative starting date is September 2021, but earlier or later dates are possible, depending on the availability of the candidate.
