[DMANET] Possibility of doing research by supporting Georg Forster Research Fellowship program

My name is masoud, a faculty member of applied mathematics and optimization, at K. N. Toosi University of Technology, Tehran, Iran.

I am writing to inquire about the possibility of doing research as a visiting researcher in cooperation with academic hosts at research institutions in Germany. I have an opportunity to do research for a period 6 to 18 months under supporting the Georg Forster Research Fellowship program for experienced researchers. I did my PhD at Sharif University of Technology One of the leading universities in Iran under the supervision of Prof. Nezam Mahdavi-Amiri

My major and abilities:

I am very interested in continuous optimization, discrete optimization and also applied linear algebra. The major focus of my PhD research was on designing (efficient) optimization algorithms for some variants of (linear)/nonlinear constrained/unconstrained optimization problems; Please see my publications for more details.
I am currently more interested in developing new algorithmic techniques and solution methods for large scale optimization problems (Especially those arising from machine learning based projects), building on known techniques (Such as sparse representation techniques for image and signal processing and for large scale ML problems). I am also familiar with discrete optimization and very interested in this field. Besides my major abilities, i have also experience to work on interdisciplinary topics related to optimization.
