HEC Liège invites applications for a full-time postdoctoral position in
combinatorial optimization

HEC Liège recruits a full-time postdoctoral researcher in the context of a
research project in the field of combinatorial optimization applied to
postal services. The project is funded by bpost, the Belgian postal company.

HEC Liège

HEC Liège is the Management School of the University of Liège (ULiège). The

QuantOM research center

At HEC Liège, the research activities within the strategic field "Business
Analytics and Supply Chain Management" are carried out by the members of
QuantOM, the "Centre for Quantitative Methods and Operations Management".
Many researchers of QuantOM work on scientific projects supported by public
research grants or by collaborations with industrial partners. Moreover, HEC
Liège offers a broad array of courses in these areas, and particularly in
the context of its master's degree specializations in "Supply Chain
Management and Business Analytics" and in "Global Supply Chain Management".

Some of the main areas of expertise and research within QuantOM are in
transport management and transport economics, production planning and
scheduling, design and coordination of supply chains, statistics and
statistical process control, integer programming and combinatorial
mathematics, business intelligence, and business analytics.

Your profile

You have a high proficiency in English and French to be able to communicate
efficiently both with the academic and the industrial worlds.

You have a PhD in the following or related fields: applied mathematics,
quantitative methods in management, computer science, engineering sciences.
An experience in developing combinatorial optimization methods is mandatory.

You should demonstrate ability to carry out high quality research and to
publish your work in high level scientific journals. You should also be able
to make managerial recommendations based on real-world data, and to diffuse
your research findings in a managerial environment.

Ideally, you have a good knowledge of:
- Stochastic optimization
- Vehicle routing problems
- C++

Contract

The position will start at the soonest on April 1st, 2022, for a duration of
18 to 24 months. The postdoctoral researcher will be hired on a research
grant and therefore should comply with the following requirements:

- to be in a situation of international mobility (that is, not having stayed
more than 24
months in Belgium - for work or studies, etc. - over the last 3 years),
- to have obtained the PhD degree less than 10 years before the starting
date of the contract.

The offered position is a full-time position at HEC Liège. However, the
selected candidate may be required to work at bpost headquarters in Brussels
twice per month.
