Optimization Group of Marc Pfetsch at TU Darmstadt, Germany, starting
now/in November.
1. One Ph.D. position in a project within the German Priority Program
SPP 2298 "Theoretical Foundations of Deep Learning", see
https://www.foundationsofdl.de/
The project "Globally Optimal Neural Network Training" deals with
global optimization in the context of deep learning and is run together
with Prof. Sebastian Pokutta (Zuse Institute Berlin/TU Berlin).
2. One Ph.D. position in the collaborative BMBF-project "RODES: Robust
Optimization for the Design of Energy Systems". This interdisciplinary
project deals with the robust design of energy systems like electricity
networks.
The applicants are expected to have a strong background in discrete
optimization with a Master's degrees in Mathematics. The positions will
be fully funded, and the successful applicants will be receiving a
salary according to the German E13 level. Knowledge of German is a plus.
