Research Assistant/Wissenschaftl. Mitarbeiter (100% TV-L 13)
for up to 5 years
A PhD position is to be filled in the "Discrete Mathematics Group"
at TU Berlin. The successful applicant will perform research in
discrete mathematics and also contribute to third-party funded research
projects. Moreover, he or she will contribute to basic as well
as advanced math courses as a teaching assistant.
Candidates should have an excellent academic degree in mathematics,
computer science or a related area, and a solid background in combinatorics
and graph theory. Candidates with an interest in discrete geometry,
planar graphs or posets are particularly encouraged to apply.
Good German communication skills and solid English skills are expected.
Teaching experience (e.g., as a student assistant) are of advantage.
Besides its many cultural attractions, Berlin offers a strong
scientific landscape including three major universities, the MATH+
cluster promoted by the German Excellence Initiative, and the DFG
research training group "Facets of Complexity" these offer
opportunities for joint research and support for PhD students and
postdocs (e.g., meetings, lecture series, summer schools etc.).
