[DMANET] (no subject)

Dear Colleagues,

I am writing to inform you about our open PhD position in optimization
of vehicle routing and scheduling. You can find the details below. I
would be happy if you can share this post.

Istenc Tarhan
Ad Astra Fellow and Assistant Professor,
Quinn Business School, University College Dublin, Dublin, Ireland
https://people.ucd.ie/istenc.tarhan
--------------------------------
Position details:

Maximizing service levels within stringent time constraints is a
common objective in dynamic and competitive environments. The domain
of vehicle routing and/or scheduling is no exception, given that
vehicle resources may not be ample to optimally serve each customer
within narrow time windows.

This PhD project aims to address such vehicle routing and/or
scheduling problems and develop exact approaches that can tackle
sufficiently large real-life instances. The secondary objective of
this project is to develop heuristic algorithms to address scenarios
where exact approaches prove inadequate.

Please be aware that the candidate has the option to select their own
subject of study if mutually agreed upon.

Applications are welcome from those with a master's degree in either
operations research, industrial engineering, mathematics, computer
science, or similar fields. Candidates with a keen interest in
combinatorial and/or multi-objective optimization,
branch-price-and-cut algorithm (or its sub-algorithms), decision
diagrams and/or dynamic programming are particularly encouraged to
apply. Experience with commercial optimization solvers (e.g., Cplex,
Gurobi) is also a plus.

This position comes with a waiver for PhD tuition fees. The stipend
for this position is €22,000 per annum, with additional funds
available for research costs. The expected starting date is September
2024.

Required application documents include a CV, a cover letter and two
(preferably academic) reference letters. Interested candidates can
submit their application by forwarding the required documents to
istenc.tarhan@ucd.ie.

Considerations of applications will continue on an ongoing basis until
the position is filled. For further details please contact: Dr. Istenc
Tarhan (istenc.tarhan@ucd.ie).
