There is an open PhD position at Artelys on Constrained Optimization with Low-Rank Tensor Approximations.
The position is available as well as 14 other position within the TENORS (Tensor modEliNg, geOmetRy and optimiSation) Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network / Joint Doctorate (2024-2027).
The goal of the project will be to investigate approaches for solving constrained optimization problems with variables in the form of a low-rank tensor decomposition.
We will also consider optimization problems with constraints evaluated through tensor-based surrogates (such as machine learning models or simulations) and work on extending existing constrained optimization methods to exploit the special structure of the surrogate models.
Applicability of these methods within the nonlinear optimization solver Artelys Knitro (https://www.artelys.com/knitro/) and on specific problems, especially in the energy domain may also be investigated.
This will be a joint PhD, between University Côte d'Azur (France) and University of Tromsø (Norway). The candidate will be integrated in Artelys in France and will spend one year un Norway during the PhD.
The project will be supervised by :
* Bernard Mourrain, INRIA
* Figen Öztoprak Topkaya, Artelys, Gebze Technical University
* Michaël Gabay, Artelys
* Cordian Riener, Arctic University of Norway

Candidates must hold a master's degree at the date of recruitment and should not have resided in France for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to recruitment.
