Transdisciplinary Research Area for Modelling at the University of Bonn, to
be established by Prof. László Végh.The focus of the group is on fundamental
questions at the crossroads of mathematical optimization, theoretical
computer science, mathematical economics, and game theory. Possible research
topics include efficient algorithms for linear and convex programming and
their geometric aspects, equilibrium computation in games and markets,
resource allocation and fair division problems, approximation algorithms,
network optimization, and problems at the interface of optimization and
machine learning.
We are a dynamic, multi-cultural, andinclusive team, and will benefit from
the exceptional research environment at the University of Bonn. The group
will be linked to the Hausdorff Center for Mathematics, the Research
Institute for DiscreteMathematics, the Institute of Computer Science, and
the Institute for Microeconomics.
Both PhD and postdoc positions are offered full time (100%) at the
appropriate level of the German public sector TV-L pay grade 13. PhD
positions are for 3 years and postdoc positions for 2years with the
possibility of extension. The start date of the positions is flexible, but
no earlier than 1 August 2024.

For PhD positions, an MSc in Mathematics, ComputerScience, Operations
Research, Economics, or other relevant areas is required. For postdoc
positions, a completed ornear-completed PhD is required in one of these
areas. The full job descriptions are available
