[DMANET] PhD Position in Operations Research at University of Kaiserslautern

The Department of Business Studies and Economics of the University of Kaiserslautern, is recruiting a

Research Assistant (f/m/d) - PhD student

The initial contract is for 30 months (starting as soon as possible) with the option to be extended. You will be working at the Chair of Logistics (https://logistik.wiwi.uni-kl.de/) which applies and develops Operations Research models and methods for the analysis and solution of questions arising in transportation and logistics.

Required qualifications:
* Master degree (or equivalent) in mathematics, computer science, or industrial engineering possibly in combination with studies in management and economics, or any other related quantitative field
* Thesis written in Operations Research or in a closely related field
* Profound knowledge in discrete optimization and in the development of algorithms, in particular the implementation of Operations Research methods (e.g., in C, C++ or Java)
* Proficiency in written and spoken English
* At least basic language skills in German or the willingness to learn German
* The competence to explain complex facts in an understandable way
* The ability to work independently as well as in a team
* Experience in teaching, e.g., as a research assistant during studies is very welcome
