Many non-classical models of automata and grammar-like structures are the natural objects of theoretical computer science. They are studied from different points of view in various areas, both as theoretical concepts and as formal models for applications. The aim of the workshops on Non-Classical Models of Automata and Applications is to provide an opportunity for researchers who work on different aspects of non-classical models of automata and grammars to exchange and develop novel ideas.

In order to emphasize the workshop character of NCMA 2025, we now invite for informal presentations in addition to full papers.

PRINCIPAL TOPICS

Typical topics for the NCMA workshops include (but are not limited) to:

- Formal models inspired by linguistics, bio-computing, text processing,
document engineering, self-assembly, etc.,
- Bio-inspired models of automata and generative devices,
- Cellular automata,
- Forgetting automata and restarting automata,
- Automata with additional resources,
- Regulated rewriting/automata,
- Networks of automata or generative devices,
- Models of cooperation and communication,
- Quantum automata,
- Automata in the framework of membrane computing,
- Complexity aspects for formal systems.

Other related topics, in particular, contributions dealing with questions on classical automata and generative devices are also welcome.

TALK DETAIL SUBMISSION

Authors are invited to give informal presentations on recent results (unpublished, or published in other venues) or ongoing work.

Submitted descriptions of the presentations, encompassing the title and the abstract of the talk, must not exceed 2 pages (in EPTCS LaTeX-style - available at https://info.eptcs.org/). Submissions should be sent to the email address NCMA2025@lboro.ac.uk with subject "NCMA 2025 - Informal Presentation" and with the talk title and author names in the body of the message.

BigHPC25 accepts two different submission types for review, including:
Original research papers (min 6 pages, max 10 pages). This type of contribution should not have been published elsewhere and should not currently be under consideration for another journal, conference, or workshop. Original research papers will be published in the CEUR proceedings.
Extended abstracts (min 2 pages, max 5 pages). This type of contribution may present work in progress or contributions that have already been published or are in preparation for publication.
Manuscripts must be submitted to the BigHPC track using the ITADATA submission site https://cmt3.research.microsoft.com/ITADATA2025.

As last year, we are working to provide a journal special issue. Authors of the best original research papers—whether full papers or innovative extended abstracts—will be invited to submit an extended version of their work for evaluation. The details will be announced soon.

[DMANET] Nerode Prize 2025: Call for Nominations (Extended Deadline)

The deadline has been extended to Sunday, June 15.

Nerode Prize 2025 -- Call for Nominations

The EATCS-IPEC Nerode Prize for outstanding papers in the area of
multivariate algorithmics is presented annually, with the presentation
taking place at IPEC (International Symposium on Parameterized and Exact
Computation). The Prize is named in honor of Anil Nerode in recognition
of his major contributions to mathematical logic, theory of automata,
computability, and complexity theory.

IPEC 2025 will take place as part of ALGO 2025 on 17–19 September 2025 at
University of Warsaw in Warsaw, Poland.

The prize was awarded for the first time in 2013.

The winning paper(s) is selected by a committee of three members. This year's

Eligibility
-----------

The Nerode Prize is given to a
research paper or series of research papers by a single author or
by a team of authors published in a recognized refereed journal.
The research work nominated for the award should be in the area of
multivariate algorithms and complexity meant in a broad sense,
which encompasses, but is not restricted to, those areas covered by IPEC.
The Award Committee has the ultimate authority to decide on the eligibility
of a nomination. Papers authored by a member of the Award Committee are not
eligible for nomination.

Note that the past restrictions that required a certain number of years
before/after the publication of the nominated papers have been removed.

Nominations

Nominations may be made by any member of the scientific community including
the members of the Award Committee. A nomination should contain a brief summary
of the technical content of each nominated paper and a brief explanation of
its significance. Nominations are done by an email to the Award Committee Chair
with copies to the members of the committee. The Subject line of the

IEEE VIS Workshop on Topological Data Analysis and Visualization (TopoInVis 2025)

Co-located with IEEE VIS 2025 - Vienna, Austria, 2-7 November

Call for Contributions

Topological methods have become an established framework for the extraction and analysis of structural patterns in complex data. It has been successfully applied in a variety of application fields, including quantum chemistry, astrophysics, fluid dynamics, combustion, material sciences, biology, and data science. In particular, the genericity, efficiency, and robustness of topological methods have made them particularly well suited for the multi-scale, interactive analysis and visualization of the underlying structural information of data.

Despite their rising mainstream popularity, topological methods still face a number of challenges, including, for instance, efficient computational methods for large-scale time-varying data, the characterization of noise and uncertainty, or the support of emerging data types, such as ensemble data or high-dimensional point clouds.

The IEEE VIS Workshop on Topological Data Analysis and Visualization aims to be an inclusive forum for the fast dissemination of the latest results in theory, algorithms, and applications of topological methods for the interactive and visual analysis of data. This workshop is open to members of the visualization community interested in topological methods and to experts in topological methods from other communities willing to experiment with interactive and visual applications.

The workshop welcomes submissions of both full-length papers and posters. The accepted papers will be presented during the workshop, and the accepted posters will be presented at the main poster event at VIS and give a lightning talk during the workshop.

Scope

Relevant topics include (but are not limited to):

* Topological methods for the analysis and visualization of all types of data, including but not limited to:
* Graph data
* Scalar, vector, tensor, multi-field data
* Time-series data
* High dimensional point cloud data
* Ensemble data
* Data with uncertainty
* Topological methods for data science (dimensionality reduction, clustering, etc.)
* Topological methods and machine learning
* Computational methods for topological data analysis and visualization
* Software systems for topological data analysis and visualization
* Visual analytic frameworks relying on topological methods
* Applications of topological data analysis and visualization

Submission

We welcome contributions as regular papers in the IEEE VGTC format (up to 9 pages of content, plus up to 2 pages of references).

Paper submissions will be peer-reviewed by an international program committee, including experts in topological methods for scientific data, information visualization, visual analytics, computational geometry, computational topology, and machine learning.

Accepted papers will be published in the IEEE Xplore Digital Library.

Poster contributions should adhere to the IEEE VIS Guidelines. While VIS has no specific formatting requirements, posters can be no larger than size A0 (841 x 1189 mm / 33.1 x 46.8 inches) and must be in a portrait orientation. The accepted posters will be presented at the main poster event at VIS.

[DMANET] STOC TheoryFest 2025 Online Poster Session - Call for Posters

Dear Colleagues,

As part of the STOC 2025 program, *we will be hosting an online poster
session from 18:00-19:00 local time on Monday, June 23, on the platform
Gather.Town*. Our hope is that people who cannot come in person to attend
STOC can still join in the festivities for a while, either as presenters or
participants.

*Anyone with a paper accepted to either STOC 2025 or FOCS 2024 is invited
to present a poster on this work.* Aside from being a single page, static
PDF, there are no restrictions on the poster format. During the session,
presenters will "stand" by their virtual poster and answer questions from
participants. Any author may present at the poster session, whether or not
they are the live speaker and/or are attending STOC in person.

We ask that you register *no later than Thursday, June 12*. Further details

[DMANET] Postdoc position on Graph Algorithms at Inria Rennes in France

I am seeking excellent candidates for a postdoctoral position in the
WIDE Distributed Algorithms team at INRIA/IRISA in Rennes, France.
Funding will be provided by Inria project DisEvo: Distributed Algorithms
on Evolving Data, which focuses on the design and analysis of
distributed algorithm for dynamic graph models. The position is
available immediately, and the initial length of the offer is 1.5 years.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science or a related
area before the starting date of the position. Knowledge of French is
not required.

Candidate profile:

## Aim

The LoStaN workshop aims to bring together researchers and practitioners
interested in bridging the gap between two traditionally distinct paradigms
in Artificial Intelligence:
**symbolic reasoning** based on **logical knowledge**,
and **data-driven** approaches grounded in **statistics** and (deep)
**machine learning**.

During its history, AI has seen tremendous progress from both ends of this
spectrum.
Symbolic methods offer interpretability, generalizability, and the ability
to incorporate structured domain knowledge,
while neural and statistical techniques excel in learning from vast amounts
of data, dealing with uncertainty,
and scaling to complex tasks.
However, unifying these paradigms remains a grand challenge.
The workshop aims to foster a research community that sees logical
reasoning and statistical learning not as competing paradigms,
but as complementary facets of intelligent behavior, and their integration
not only as a technical challenge but rather as a transformative
opportunity.

LoStaN provides a forum for discussing foundational questions, novel
methodologies, and practical applications that seek to integrate logical
and statistical AI,
with the aim to energize this interdisciplinary space, promote
collaboration between research communities, and inspire innovative
solutions to AI.

We invite the following types of contribution:

Full papers should be limited to __14 pages__, while short papers should be

2. __Position papers__ concerning the application of logic, statistical and
neural models in specific fields.

3. __Survey papers__, concerning any of the above. Survey papers should be

4. __Extended abstracts__, providing an overview of recently published
papers regarding the workshop topics. Extended abstract should be limited

statistical, and neural methods in AI.

## Submission Guidelines

- Submissions must be exported in __PDF format__;

- _Camera-ready_ versions shall include the LaTeX __source files__;

## Reviewing Format

Each submission will undergo a traditional single-blind review process.
This phase applies to all papers, regardless of type, and will determine
the final acceptance or rejection decision.

Accepted contributions are presented at the workshop, and authors may
collect further comments and insights.

After that, authors who are willing to publish their contribution to the
workshop proceedings will be requested to produce a final version of the
paper,
addressing the reviewers' suggestions and possibly integrating comments and
insights from the workshop.

All papers will undergo the standard assessment in which reviewers will be
asked to consider the submission focusing on its:
- __scope__: is the paper on-topic w.r.t. the workshop's track or theme?
- __significance__: is the idea proposed in the paper meaningful for the
LoStaN community? Are the results relevant?
- __soundness__: is the approach proposed in the paper correct and robust?
Are experiments (if any) well-designed?
- __clarity__: is the paper clear and well organized? Is the discussion
complete?
- __contextualization__: is relevant background and related literature
being adequately referenced?
- __novelty__: is the contribution novel either from a conceptual or
technical perspective?

Furthermore, the reviews will take into account the specific
characteristics of the submitted contributions
(see submission types above)
to obtain their final decision.

## Proceedings

The workshop will publish its own proceedings onto Scopus-indexed
repositories, such as [CEUR-WS](https://ceur-ws.org/).

> __Important note:__ Accepted papers will be included in the workshop
proceedings __only if__ the authors explicitly agree to do so.
In this way, works which are not mature enough for publication, as well as
works which have already been published elsewhere can be presented and
discussed at the workshop.

## 📖 Special Issue

A selection of the best papers presented at the workshop will be invited to
submit an extended version to a special issue in a journal (TBD).
We are negotiating with several journals, and we will update this CfP as

Overview:

Over the last few years, the integration of logical constraints in Deep Learning models has gained significant attention from research communities for its potential to enhance the interpretability, robustness, safety, and generalization capabilities of these models. This integration opens the possibility of incorporating prior knowledge, handling incomplete data, and combining symbolic and subsymbolic reasoning. Moreover, the use of logical constraints improves generalization, formal verification, and ethical decision-making. The versatility of logical constraint integration spans diverse domains, presenting both research challenges and opportunities. In recent times, there has been a growing trend in incorporating logical constraints into deep learning models, especially in safety-critical applications. Looking ahead, challenges in this field extend to the development of Machine Learning models that not only incorporate logical constraints but also provide robust assurances. This involves ensuring that AI systems adhere to specific (temporal) logical or ethical constraints, offering a level of guarantees in their behavior.

Thus, this special track seeks submissions on the integration of logical constraints into deep learning approaches. We are particularly interested in the following broad content areas.

- Formal verification of neural networks is an active area of research that has been proposing methods, tools, specification languages (e.g., VNNLIB), and annual competitions (e.g., VNN-COMP) devoted to verify that a neural network satisfies a certain property typically given in (a fragment) of first order logic.

- Synthesis aims at synthesizing neural networks that are compliant with some given constraint. Approaches to achieve this aim range from modifying the loss function in the training phase (i.e., soft constraint injection) to exploit counterexample guided inductive synthesis (CEGIS).

- Monitoring: Logical constraints can be used to mitigate and/or neutralize constraint violations of machine learning systems when formal verification and synthesis are not possible. Shielding techniques intervene by changing the output of the network when a constraint is being violated. Runtime monitoring can be used to anticipate failures of AI systems without modifying them.

- Explainability: Automated learning of formulae and logical constraints from past executions of the system provides natural explanations for neural network predictions and poses another avenue for future research. Formulae and constraints offer a high degree of explainability since they carry a precise syntax and semantics, and thus they can be "read" by humans more easily than other explainability methods.

This special track aims to explore and showcase recent advancements in the integration of logical constraints within deep learning models, spanning the spectrum of verification, synthesis, monitoring and explainability, by considering exact and approximate solutions, online and offline approaches. The focus will also extend to encompass innovative approaches that address the challenges associated with handling logical constraints in neural networks.

The next generation of technologies is envisioned to connect the physical and digital worlds. In this regard, Digital Twins (DT) is an emerging technology that has taken the world by storm due to its multiple benefits and deployment in interdisciplinary applications ranging from real-time remote monitoring to healthcare, industrial control systems and predictive maintenance in aerospace. DT connects the physical and digital worlds by building an accurate virtual replica of system objects in real-time. Real-time network monitoring, performance testing, optimization, and fast simulation are some examples that exploit DT advantages in the communication domain and beyond. DT delivers a new generation platform to analyze and test complex systems that is not currently available in traditional simulations and evaluations. Therefore, the use of DT is required in communication systems. Further, DT can deliver seamless analysis, monitoring, and predictions between digital and virtual counterparts of real-world systems, when it is used together with next-generation mobile communications (5G/6G), Virtual Reality (VR), Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Transfer Learning (TL), 3D models, Augmented Reality (AR), distributed computing and intelligent health applications. [DMANET] Joint CP/SAT Doctoral Programme

Call for Submission:

The Joint CP/SAT Doctoral Programme (DP) is open to all research students, including past participants, who are conducting research related to constraint programming and satisfiability. The goal is to provide an informal environment for networking, presenting and discussing ongoing work, and receiving feedback from both fellow research students and experts in the field. Participation requires a paper submission to the DP, reviewing other submissions to the DP and attendance in person.
The DP is a two-day event (10-11 August 2025). The exact schedule of the DP is yet to be confirmed, but the currently planned structure of its content is outlined as follows. More information will be available in the near future.

Presentations and Poster Session: Each student is expected to give a presentation of their work, followed by a short Q&A session. Students with an accepted paper at the CP or SAT conference will give a shorter lightning talk, designed to pique the interest of the audience for their full presentation. Additionally, all students are required to create an A0 poster to be presented during the programme. The primary goal of the poster session is to encourage research and to promote the students' work to potential future collaborators.

Review Training: As part of the Doctoral Program, each participant will be assigned to review a submitted paper. The aim is to improve their reviewing skills by analyzing the work of their peers and receiving feedback from experienced researchers. The ultimate goal is to promote a positive reviewing culture, which is often disregarded in the field of computer science.

Invited Talks: Two mid-career/senior researchers will give invited talks to the DP participants. One of the talks will help students plan their career paths, while the other will focus on specific technical skills that are important to acquire for scientific research in the area of CP and SAT.

Mentoring: We plan to pair each participant with a mentor from the community, who is either a professor or a post-doctoral researcher attending the main conferences. The mentor will discuss the student's work and provide constructive feedback. This is intended to promote networking opportunities for the Ph.D. students.

Social Dinner: If sufficient financial support is obtained, a free dinner will be organized for DP participants on one of the evenings of the doctoral program. The dinner will be open to all students, invited speakers and chairs of the doctoral program.

Paper Submission
To participate, students must submit a short paper. Papers must be primarily the work of the student and can be work in progress, completed work or recently published work. Students whose work has been accepted at CP 2025 or SAT 2025 can submit a two-page extended abstract summarising the key findings. Otherwise, students must submit an original paper of up to 8 pages describing completed or ongoing research or a summary of their research/PhD topic. Submissions can include up to one additional page of references.
The submission form must clearly specify the student as the first author and list all advisors and co-authors. Papers must follow the <https://submission.dagstuhl.de/series/details/5#author> LIPIcs guidelines<https://submission.dagstuhl.de/series/details/5#author> of the main conferences, be in PDF format and not include author information in the text or metadata. All papers will go through a double-blind reviewing process, meaning that authors and reviewers are mutually anonymous. For this reason, submitted papers should not contain author names, affiliations, or links to identifying websites. As the DP aims to develop academic maturity of young CP and SAT researchers, all reasonable submissions will be accepted.

The abstract follows.
We consider a large family of problems in which an ordering (or, more
precisely, a chain of subsets) of a finite set must be chosen to
minimize some weighted sum of costs. This family includes variations of
min sum set cover, several scheduling and search problems, and problems
in Boolean function evaluation. We define a problem, called the min sum
ordering problem (MSOP), which generalizes all these problems using a
cost and a weight function defined on subsets of a finite set. By making
certain assumptions on the structure of the cost and weight functions,
we derive general approximation results that can be applied to several
problems. This talk will be based on two joint works with Robbert
Fokkink, László Végh, Felix Happach and Lisa Hellerstein.

[DMANET] PhD in the Business School of University College Dublin

*PhD project details:*

Supermarkets are among the major contributors to food waste, particularly
those operating through extensive networks of retailers across wide
geographic areas. To combat this, many supermarkets implement a variety of
food waste prevention strategies, such as discount promotions, donations,
and recycling. However, these methods require a coordinated and holistic
management approach to be effective. While employing diverse strategies can
significantly reduce food waste, the increasing variety of methods adds
complexity to the resulting optimization problems.

This PhD project aims to address the operational and optimization
challenges involved in managing food waste reduction strategies within
supermarket retailers. Its ultimate goal is to develop models that optimize
the implementation of existing food waste prevention methods, thereby
contributing to both the reduction of food waste and the broader goal of
eliminating hunger.

*Expected qualifications:*

Applications are welcome from those with a master's degree in either
operations research, industrial engineering, management science,
mathematics, computer science, or similar fields. Candidates with a keen
interest in multi-objective optimization, simulation and dynamic
programming are particularly encouraged to apply. Experience with
commercial optimization solvers (e.g., Cplex, Gurobi) is also a plus.

*Funding eligibility:* EU and non-EU students *holding a master's degree*
are equally eligible.

*Funding amount:* This position comes with a waiver for PhD tuition fees.
The stipend for this position is €22,000 per annum, with additional funds
available for research costs.

TOPICS

The workshop on Advances in Preference Handling addresses all
computational aspects of preference handling. This includes methods
for the elicitation, learning, modeling, representation, aggregation,
and management of preferences and for reasoning about preferences. The
workshop studies the usage of preferences in computational tasks from
decision making, database querying, web search, personalized human-
computer interaction, personalized recommender systems, e-commerce,
multi-agent systems, game theory, social choice, combinatorial
optimization, planning and robotics, automated problem solving,
perception and natural language understanding and other computational
tasks involving choices. The workshop seeks to improve the overall
understanding of and best methodologies for preferences in order to
realize their benefits in the multiplicity of tasks for which they are
used. Another important goal is to provide cross-fertilization between
the numerous sub-fields that work with preferences.

FORMAT

SUBMISSION

We invite interested researchers to submit papers on any computational
aspect of preference handling.

The purpose of workshop presentations is to get early feedback on new
ideas and to stimulate discussions between researchers interested in
preference handling. As such, there will be no formal proceedings, but
we may post accepted papers on the workshop website for the benefit of
the workshop participants if the authors agree to this and the paper
has not already been published.

**Original submissions**: Submissions about unpublished ideas will be
reviewed by a double-blind process (so, should be anonymous). Papers
should be formatted according to the ECAI formatting instructions and
not exceed 7 pages (plus 1 extra page for references). Supplementary
material such as a technical appendix or code and data is not
required, but can be provided.

**Multiple submissions**: Authors who are seeking a broader forum for
already published work and who are interested in giving a presentation
to the workshop's audience may submit their work non-anonymously while
indicating where this work has been published. We will only accept
work which has been published in the last calendar year (e.g., AAAI
2025, IJCAI 2025, and any conference held after June 2024).

*Aim & Scope*

Cultural heritage, especially fine arts, plays an invaluable role in our
societies' cultural, historical, and economic growth. Fine arts are
primarily developed for aesthetic purposes and are mainly expressed
through painting, sculpture, and architecture. In recent years, thanks
to technological improvements and drastic cost reductions, a large-scale
digitization effort has been made, which has led to the increasing
availability of large digitized fine art collections. This availability,
coupled with recent advances in computer vision, has disclosed new
opportunities, especially for researchers in this field, to assist the
art community with automatic tools to analyze and better understand fine
arts. Among other benefits, a deeper understanding of fine arts has the
potential to make them more accessible to a broader population, both in
terms of fruition and creation, thus supporting the spread of culture.

Following the success of the previous three editions, the workshop aims
to provide an international forum for those wishing to present
advancements in state-of-the-art, innovative research, ongoing projects,
and academic and industrial reports on applying visual pattern
extraction and recognition for a better understanding and fruition of
fine arts. The workshop solicits contributions from computer vision and
pattern recognition, artificial intelligence, and image processing.

FAPER is promoted by the IAPR Technical Committee 19 (Computer Vision
