-Design quantum or quantum-inspired classical (approximation) algorithms for discrete optimization, machine learning, simulation, and other application areas

-Contribute in a stimulating interdisciplinary environment with computer scientists, physicists, and mathematicians to develop theoretical and practical approaches for addressing real-world problems

Qualifications We Require
-PhD in physics, computer science, mathematics, electrical engineering or related field and possess a bachelor's in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM).
-Experience with quantum information science or theoretical computer science. We encourage theoretical computer scientists interested in quantum information science but without formal expertise in such to apply.
-Good interpersonal skills as evidenced by a history of publication of results in peer-reviewed journals and external presentations at appropriate scientific conferences
-Able to acquire and maintain a DOE security clearance

-Some exposure to quantum algorithm design, quantum optimization, quantum complexity theory, or broader quantum information theory
-Experience with programming language such as C/C++ or Python
-Desire to work in a collaborative environment and interested in interdisciplinary research
-Experience making and delivering effective technical presentations

Sandia's Quantum Algorithms for Optimization and Learning and Simulation (QOALAS) and Fundamental Algorithms for Quantum Computing (FAR-QC) are DOE-funded efforts to develop new quantum algorithms for optimization, machine learning, and quantum simulation. [DMANET] Ph.D. Student in Random Processes and Algorithms at Hasso Plattner Institute Potsdam
The Algorithm Engineering group at the Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI) currently hosts about twenty-five researchers and invites applications for a new
Ph.D. Student in Random Processes and Algorithms.
The research group uses methods from mathematics and computer science to approach a range of algorithmic areas including artificial intelligence, network theory and random processes / structures. We are currently seeking to strengthen our focus within the area of probabilistic analysis of randomized optimization algorithms, such as evolutionary algorithms and other nature inspired heuristics.
As part of the privately funded Faculty of Digital Engineering of the University of Potsdam, we engage both in teaching of outstanding and highly selected students as well as in internationally renowned research. PAPER SUBMISSION

A submitted paper should clearly motivate the importance of the problem being addressed, discuss prior work and its relationship to the paper, explicitly and precisely state the paper's key contributions, and outline the key technical ideas and methods used to achieve the main claims. A submission should strive to be accessible to a broad audience, as well as having sufficient details for experts in the area.
Papers must be submitted in PDF format via https://podc2021.hotcrp.com<https://podc2021.hotcrp.com/>and fall in two categories: regular papers and brief announcements.
A regular paper must report on original research that has not been previously published. It is not permitted to submit the same material concurrently to journals or conferences with proceedings. Format and length requirements for submissions are stated below. All ideas necessary for an expert to fully verify the central claims in a paper, including experimental results, should be included in the submission.
A brief announcement may describe work in progress or work presented elsewhere. The title of a brief announcement must begin with "Brief Announcement:".
Submissions not conforming to the rules stated in this call, as well as papers outside the scope of the conference, risk being rejected without consideration.

SUBMISSION FORMAT

Submissions must be prepared in LaTeX and use the official ACM Master article template (acmart.cls, version of 1.73 or greater), available at https://www.acm.org/publications/proceedings-template. The authors must use `manuscript`, `nonacm` and `anonymous` options when preparing the submission, and use the ACM format for references. No modifications of the format or style are allowed. Sample files are available on the PODC website at https://www.podc.org/podc2021/call-for-papers/.
For regular papers, there is no page limit, and authors are encouraged to use the "full version" of their paper as the submission. The initial 15 pages should contain a clear presentation of the merits of the paper, including a discussion of the paper's importance within the context of prior work and a description of the key technical and conceptual ideas used to achieve its main claims. The submission must contain full proofs of all claims in the paper. Although there is no bound on the length of a submission, material other than the first 15 pages will be read at the committee's discretion.
Papers submitted as brief announcements should comply with the above rules, replacing 15 pages with 5 pages.

The conference will employ a lightweight double-blind reviewing process. Submissions should not reveal the identity of the authors in any way. In particular, authors' names, affiliations, and email addresses should not appear at the beginning or in the body of the submission. Authors should ensure that any references to their own related work are in the third person (e.g., not "We build on our previous work ..." but rather "We build on the work of ..."). The purpose of this process is to help PC members and external reviewers come to an initial judgment about the paper without bias, not to make it impossible for them to discover the authors if they were to try. Nothing should be done in the name of anonymity that weakens the submission or makes the job of reviewing the paper more difficult. In particular, important references should not be omitted or anonymized. In addition, authors should feel free to disseminate their ideas or draft versions of their paper as they normally would. For example, authors may post drafts of their papers on the web, submit them to arXiv, and give talks on their research ideas. Authors with further questions on double-blind reviewing are encouraged to contact the PC chair by email.

Indications of conflicts of interest will be required in the submission form.
A conflict of interest is limited to the following categories:

4. Involved in an alleged incident of harassment. (It is not required that the incident be reported.)

Accepted regular papers of up to 10 pages and brief announcements of up to 3 pages in two-column ACM proceedings format will be included in the conference proceedings. They must be formatted with the ACM Master templates using \documentclass[sigconf]{acmart}. If more space than available in the proceedings for an accepted paper is needed, a full version must be available publicly, e.g. on arXiv, by the due date for the proceedings version (May 21, 2021), and the proceedings version must refer to this.
Extended and revised versions of selected papers will be considered for a special issue of the Distributed Computing journal. Up to two papers will be selected to be considered for publication in JACM.
The official publication date is the date the proceedings are made available in the ACM Digital Library. This date may be up to two weeks prior to the first day of the conference. The official publication date affects the deadline for any patent filings related to published work.

The 21st European Conference on Evolutionary Computation in Combinatorial
Optimisation is a multidisciplinary conference that brings together researchers
working on applications and theory of evolutionary computation methods and
other metaheuristics for solving difficult combinatorial optimisation problems
appearing in various industrial, economic, and scientific domains.
Successfully solved problems include, but are not limited to, multi-objective,
uncertain, dynamic and stochastic problems in the context of scheduling,
timetabling, network design, transportation and distribution, vehicle routing,
stringology, graphs, satisfiability, energy optimisation, cutting, packing,
planning and search-based software engineering.
The EvoCOP 2021 conference will be held in the city of Seville, Spain, (and online)
together with EuroGP (the 24th European Conference on Genetic Programming), EvoMUSART
(the 10th European conference on evolutionary and biologically inspired music,
sound, art and design) and EvoApplications (the 24th European Conference on the
Applications of Evolutionary Computation), in a joint event collectively known
as EvoStar (Evo*).
Accepted papers will be published by Springer Nature in the Lecture Notes in

The best regular paper presented at EvoCOP 2021 will be distinguished with a
Best Paper Award. Authors nominated for the best regular paper award will be
invited for fast track publication in the Evolutionary Computation journal
(MIT Press). The invited submissions must significantly extend the conference
paper and will undergo peer review.
**** Areas of Interest and Contributions ****
EvoCOP welcomes submissions in all experimental and theoretical aspects of
evolutionary computation and other metaheuristics to combinatorial optimisation
problems, including (but not limited to) the following areas:
* Applications of metaheuristics to combinatorial optimisation problems
* Theoretical developments
* Neighbourhoods and efficient algorithms for searching them
* Variation operators for stochastic search methods
* Constraint-handling techniques
* Parallelisation and grid computing
* Search space and landscape analyses
* Comparisons between different (also exact) methods
* Automatic algorithm configuration and design
Prominent examples of metaheuristics include (but are not limited to):
* Evolutionary algorithms
* Estimation of distribution algorithms
* Swarm intelligence methods such as ant colony and particle swarm optimisation
* Artificial immune systems
* Local search methods such as simulated annealing, tabu search, variable
neighbourhood search, iterated local search, scatter search and path relinking
* Hybrid methods such as memetic algorithms
* Matheuristics (hybrids of exact and heuristic methods)
* Hyper-heuristics and autonomous search
* Surrogate-model-based methods
Notice that, by tradition, continuous/numerical optimisation is *not* part of
the topics of interest of EvoCOP. Interested authors might consider submitting
to other EvoStar conferences such as EvoApplications.

Paper submissions must be original and not published elsewhere. The submissions
will be peer reviewed by members of the program committee. The reviewing
process will be double-blind, please omit information about the authors in the

The Organising Committee has the pleasure of inviting you to participate in the 7th IFAC Conference on Analysis and Design of Hybrid Systems (ADHS 21) to be held in Brussels, Belgium, July 7-9, 2021.
ADHS 2021 will take place at the University Foundation, Brussels and is organized by the department of Applied Mathematics of UCLouvain. Virtual attendance will be possible, and the extent of this possibility will be adapted to the situation of the pandemia.
The conference happens under the auspices of IFAC and is sponsored by the IFAC Technical Committee on Discrete Event and Hybrid Systems.
Contributions are invited in all areas pertaining to the engineering of hybrid systems including: modelling, specification, verification, analysis, control synthesis, simulation, validation, and implementation. We solicit papers and invited session proposals describing theoretical or applied research in the area. We also welcome papers describing tools, reporting case studies or connecting the cognate fields of control theory and formal verification.
Contributions are encouraged on applications of hybrid methods in various fields, such as automotive, avionics, energy and power, mobile and autonomous robotics, the process and manufacture industry, transportation and infrastructure networks, communication networks and networked control systems, cyber-physical systems, safety-critical systems, systems and synthetic biology.
An interactive session with scientists from the industry will be organized. A poster session will be organized and IFAC Young Author, Best Paper, Best Repeatability and Best Poster Prizes will be awarded.
The Program Chairs are planning to edit a special issue of NAHS: the authors of selected papers will be invited to contribute with significantly revised and extended versions of their manuscripts, containing new results.
New this year: ADHS'21 will feature a repeatability evaluation (RE). In other words, all accepted papers which include computational artifacts will be invited to submit these for evaluation to be conducted by a RE program committee. In this way, we aim to improve the reproducibility of computational results in the papers accepted for publication. Note that it is optional to submit an RE package, i.e., availability of a RE package will not affect the final publication of the corresponding paper. Papers whose RE packages pass the repeatability evaluation will be listed online and in the final proceedings. At the same time, papers whose RE package does not pass the repeatability evaluation criteria will be treated the same as papers which do not submit RE packages.

* Regular papers: Regular papers can have a length of up to 8 pages at submission. Accepted papers are limited to 6 pages in the conference preprints and on-line proceedings. For papers describing tools, please tick the keyword "Computational tools" upon submission.

The IFAC Conference Manuscript Management System then returns an acknowledgment that contains an alpha-numeric code for the proposed session. Subsequently, the organiser has to notify the contributing authors of their invited session code. The corresponding author of each paper then submits the paper on-line as an invited paper.

The Organising Committee has the pleasure of inviting you to participate in the 7th IFAC Conference on Analysis and Design of Hybrid Systems (ADHS 21) to be held in Brussels, Belgium, July 7-9, 2021.
ADHS 2021 will take place at the University Foundation, Brussels and is organized by the department of Applied Mathematics of UCLouvain. Virtual attendance will be possible, and the extent of this possibility will be adapted to the situation of the pandemia.
The conference happens under the auspices of IFAC and is sponsored by the IFAC Technical Committee on Discrete Event and Hybrid Systems.
Contributions are invited in all areas pertaining to the engineering of hybrid systems including: modelling, specification, verification, analysis, control synthesis, simulation, validation, and implementation. We solicit papers and invited session proposals describing theoretical or applied research in the area. We also welcome papers describing tools, reporting case studies or connecting the cognate fields of control theory and formal verification.
Contributions are encouraged on applications of hybrid methods in various fields, such as automotive, avionics, energy and power, mobile and autonomous robotics, the process and manufacture industry, transportation and infrastructure networks, communication networks and networked control systems, cyber-physical systems, safety-critical systems, systems and synthetic biology.
An interactive session with scientists from the industry will be organized. A poster session will be organized and IFAC Young Author, Best Paper, Best Repeatability and Best Poster Prizes will be awarded.
The Program Chairs are planning to edit a special issue of NAHS: the authors of selected papers will be invited to contribute with significantly revised and extended versions of their manuscripts, containing new results.
New this year: ADHS'21 will feature a repeatability evaluation (RE). In other words, all accepted papers which include computational artifacts will be invited to submit these for evaluation to be conducted by a RE program committee. In this way, we aim to improve the reproducibility of computational results in the papers accepted for publication. Note that it is optional to submit an RE package, i.e., availability of a RE package will not affect the final publication of the corresponding paper. Papers whose RE packages pass the repeatability evaluation will be listed online and in the final proceedings. At the same time, papers whose RE package does not pass the repeatability evaluation criteria will be treated the same as papers which do not submit RE packages.

DCOSS 2021 is the 17th International Conference on Distributed Computing in
Sensor Systems to be hosted in Coral Bay, Pafos, Cyprus in June 7-9, 2021.
In the last few years, we have witnessed a significant growth in the use of
IoT and distributed sensor systems in a number of application areas,
ranging from smart transport, energy and buildings, to factory automation,
smart healthcare and environmental monitoring. In order for smart sensor
systems to truly become useful and pervasive, we need to address a number
of research challenges, including the tight integration of sensing and
machine intelligence, reliable and efficient networking, interoperability
and scalability, the need for dependable autonomy, interaction with humans,
and important aspects of security, privacy and trust. DCOSS focuses on
issues arising in the entire IoT and networked sensor systems stack:
covering aspects of high-level abstractions, models and languages, novel
algorithms and applications, system design approaches and architectures, as
well as tools for simulated and real deployments. Potential authors are
invited to submit original unpublished manuscripts that demonstrate recent
advances in both theoretical and experimental research. Topics of interest

This is an exciting opportunity for a Lecturer in Algorithms at the
University of Sheffield, UK, a world top 100 University. Working in the
Department of Computer Science, you will join our established Algorithms
Group. The group focuses on the design and analysis of algorithms which
provably solve computational problems efficiently.
The Department is embarking on an exciting growth strategy following our
strong performance in the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014, in
which we were ranked 5th out of 89 computer science departments in the UK.
To build upon our continued success, we seek to appoint a Lecturer in the
design and analysis of algorithms, with specialist expertise in an area
including, but not limited to:
- randomised algorithms
- streaming algorithms and sublinear-time algorithms

- approximation algorithms
- parameterised complexity and fixed-parameter tractable algorithms
- distributed computing

You will hold a PhD in computer science or a related area, and you will be
able to conduct research to the highest standards. You will secure research
funding, publish in high impact journals and conferences, supervise
research students and manage research projects. As a teacher, you will play

designing, delivering and assessing undergraduate and postgraduate-level
