fellowships, with Mathematics as one of the priority areas (and so
applicants in Discrete Mathematics are welcome).
The fellowship positions are initially for 5 years, but the intention is
to transfer the fellows to permanent contracts, normally at
Senior Lecturer or Reader level, at the end of the five-year term subject
to achieving the targets agreed at the beginning of their
fellowship.
Although research-focused, fellows will be appointed to research and
teaching contracts. At the start of the fellowship period, the emphasis
will be on research, but fellows will be expected to engage in PhD
supervision and to develop a growing teaching portfolio over their
five-year term.
Candidates must have been awarded a PhD (or equivalent degree) before they
expect to take up the post and normally not more than seven years from the
date of award of their PhD (excluding any breaks that have been taken for
personal reasons). Their publication record must be such that they will be
able to submit 3-4 publications of a 3* (international quality) or 4*
(world-leading) level to the 2014 UK Research Excellence Framework (REF).
Details about the positions and how to apply can be found here:

The application deadline is 1 September 2011.
