[DMANET] PhD Thesis in Advanced Process Control of Semiconductor Manufacturing

Dear all,

Please see below for the details regarding one PhD thesis available
in Centre Microélectronique de Provence at École des Mines de
Saint-Étienne, Campus Gardanne.

---------------------------------------
Thesis Brief
Development of Global Control Plans in Semiconductor Fabrication
With the rapid advancement of IT, high-tech production industries (in
particular semiconductor companies) have urged to implement the Advanced
Process Control (APC) framework, for not only better product quality but
also efficient production control. The main activities within APC, such as
the feedback/feed-forward control, process fault detection, and virtual
metrology, have been studied for decades. However, the Run-to-Run (R2R)
models, though well established, are always built based on physics and
chemistry knowledge given the product quality input without considering the
equipment status or production scheduling plan. Since the R2R models can be
put in effect only when quality information is measured, they become less
timely compared to the real time equipment and production plan. It has
motivated the main concept of this thesis where real time and predictive
equipment condition shall be adaptively taken into account in the R2R
models such that the process runs are to be fine-tuned for better quality
control, more effective production flow, and more efficient equipment
utilization.
