[DMANET] Chair of Mathematical Image Communication at TU Berlin and Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute

Tech­nis­che Uni­versität Ber­lin and the Fraunhofer Hein­rich Hertz Insti­tute jointly invite
applic­a­tions in a Reim­burse­ment Model (Ber­liner Mod­ell) for a pos­i­tion of a
Uni­ver­sity Pro­fes­sor - salary grade W3

for the chair of "Math­em­at­ics – Math­em­at­ical Image Com­mu­nic­a­tion".

The appoint­ment for the pro­fess­or­ship is part of the cooper­a­tion of the Ein­stein Cen­ter Digital Future.

Work­ing field:

The pos­i­tion includes research and teach­ing at the Insti­tute of Math­em­at­ics of Tech­nis­che Uni­versität Ber­lin as well as man­age­ment of a research depart­ment in the field of "Video" at Fraunhofer HHI.

Require­ments:

Can­did­ates must ful­fill the require­ments for appoint­ment at the pro­fessor level in com­pli­ance with § 100 Ber­lHG (Ber­lin Higher Edu­ca­tion Act), includ­ing a com­pleted aca­demic edu­ca­tion in math­em­at­ics, qual­i­fied achieve­ments in research (doc­tor­ate in math­em­at­ics, com­puter sci­ence, or elec­trical engin­eer­ing) and ped­ago­gical-didactic qual­i­fic­a­tions, to be proven by teach­ing exper­i­ence and visu­al­ized in a teach­ing port­fo­lio (for fur­ther inform­a­tion see TUB Web­site, quick access no. 144242).

Can­did­ates must have an inter­na­tion­ally out­stand­ing research track record in one or more of the fol­low­ing areas of math­em­at­ical image com­mu­nic­a­tion: applied har­monic ana­lysis; inverse prob­lems in image pro­cessing; stat­ist­ical mod­el­ling, ana­lysis, and pre­dic­tion; mul­ti­di­men­sional sig­nal pro­cessing; inform­a­tion- and rate-dis­tor­tion-the­ory; and source-, image-, and video cod­ing. Exper­i­ence in the applic­a­tion and imple­ment­a­tion of grant pro­pos­als and in col­lab­or­at­ive research is expec­ted.
The can­did­ate must rep­res­ent the area of Math­em­at­ics in research and teach­ing. Applic­ants must show teach­ing exper­i­ence at uni­versity level. Addi­tional exper­i­ence in advising and super­vising Bach­elor, Mas­ter and doc­toral stu­dents is expec­ted. Exper­i­ence in aca­demic admin­is­tra­tion is also expec­ted.
Com­pet­ence in the pro­mo­tion of young sci­ent­ists and of women as well as in gender-sens­it­ive teach­ing are desir­able.
