[DMANET] Postdoctoral Position in Robust Optimization

?

Applicants are invited for a postdoctoral position as part of a research project within the department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Khalifa University of Science and Technology, Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Job Description:

The project aims to consider continuous/discrete optimization problems, particularly those arising in Machine Learning, under the framework of robust optimization, where the input data is given with some uncertainty. The goal is exploit the structure of these optimization problems in order to develop efficient algorithms for finding near-optimal solutions under the worst-case choice the input can assume from the uncertainty set. Experience with optimization software and programming languages such as C++, Python, Matlab, Gurobi is strongly recommended, as part of this project will focus on providing efficient implementations of the developed algorithms.

Required Qualifications:

- Ph.D. in Theoretical Computer Science, Operations Research, or equivalent
- Strong mathematical background in areas like continuous/discrete optimization and
- Solid programming skills (e.g. C++, Python, Matlab, Gurobi)
- Familiarity with Machine Learning algorithms is highly preferred.

The position will be for a duration of 1 year, starting as early as possible. Interested applicants are encouraged to send a CV by December 30th, 2019 to Khaled Elbassioni (khaled.elbassioni@ku.ac.ae).
