[DMANET] PhD position in Operations Research at Ingolstadt School of Management, KU Eichstätt-Ingolstadt

The Assistant Professorship of Operations Management is looking for a

PhD student (m/f/d)

funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG)


About us
The Assistant Professorship of Operations Management focusses on fundamental and application-oriented research with analytical methods (operations research, machine learning, data-driven optimization, game theory). The focus of the applications lies in transportation logistics, mobility, urban logistics, and production planning. In research, collaborations with national and international universities exist. Routing and delivery planning tools as well as new logistics concepts for urban areas have been applied in various industry and research projects.

About the project
The research project RessOurce and COst allocation for City lOgistics (ROCOCO) aims to model and develop a cost and resource allocation scheme for collaboration in city logistics networks. The goal is to apply and combine game theoretical approaches, mathematical modeling, and metaheuristics to improve efficiency and sustainability of city logistics systems.

Research environment
The student will be part of the Department of Operations at the Ingolstadt School of Management in Ingolstadt, Germany, where several students work on related problems in the area of logistics. The project is in collaboration with Teodor Gabriel Crainic from the University of Quebec and the CIRRELT in Montreal and a flexible research stay in Montreal is possible.

Requirements
We are looking for a motivated candidate with background in Management, Economics, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field and experience with Operations Research methods. Ideally, you have expertise in programming of algorithms and/or mathematical modelling.
