DMS has three research groups: Data Science, (pure and applied) Mathematics, and Mathematics Education. DMS offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the fields of Actuarial Science (e.g., BSc Finance and Mathematics), Data Science (e.g., MSc Data Science, MSc Optimisation and Data Analytics, and MSc Statistics) and Mathematics (e.g., MSc Mathematics).
In recent years the Department and the University have been very successful in developing cutting edge knowledge transfer partnerships (https://www.ktp-uk.org/case-study/the-university-of-essex-tops-uk-knowledge-transfer-partnership-tables/) with companies such as Profusion Ltd., and Mediterranean Shipping Company. Those projects have been developed in close collaboration with other Schools: School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering and Essex Business School.
