[DMANET] Conference announcement: International Conference on Bilevel Optimization, Southampton, UK, 8-11 August 2023

An International Conference on Bilevel Optimization will take place from the 8th to the 11th of August 2023 in Southampton, UK
(https://www.bilevelconference2023.org/).

Key notes speakers: Stephan Dempe, Ivana Ljubic, Martin Schmidt, and Jane Juan Ye.

Call for abstracts: abstracts are invited for talks and posters on any theoretical, numerical, or application topic related to bilevel optimization, including, but not limited to optimistic and pessimistic bilevel optimization, hierarchical optimization, Stackelberg games, minmax optimization, mathematical programs with equilibrium or complementarity constraints, semi-infinite programming, optimization under uncertainty, and applications of bilevel or hierarchical optimization. Submission opens on April 3rd, 2023.

Poster competition: as part of the conference, PhD students and early-career researchers are invited to take part in a poster competition by making a submission on any topic related to bilevel optimization, as described above in the themes of the conference. Submission opens on April 3rd, 2023.

Summer school: the conference includes a summer school on two of the fastest growing areas of bilevel optimization; that is, (a) Bilevel Optimization Algorithms & Models for Contemporary Energy Challenges and (b) Bilevel Optimization in Machine learning.

Location and social programme: The conference will take place on the main campus of the University of Southampton located in Highfield. Southampton, located approximately 70 mi (110 km) south-west of London, is a vibrant city (and one of the sunniest places in the UK!), and was the departure point for two of the most famous ships in history: the Titanic (which met its unfortunate fate in the North Atlantic Ocean on 15 April 1912 after striking an iceberg, thus setting a gruesome record as the deadliest sinking up to that time) and the Mayflower (on which the Pilgrim sailed on 5 August 1620 on their way to the Americas before the vessel was forced to return to Dartmouth and then to Plymouth for repairs). As part of the conference, we will visit the SeaCity Museum, which makes an account of the great marine and maritime history of the city.

Key dates:
Abstract submission opening (talks and posters): April 3rd, 2023
Abstract submission deadline (talks and posters): May 28th, 2023
Latest notification of acceptance: June 18th, 2023
