[DMANET] PhD Position in Data Science (Big Data) at University of Hagen

To strengthen our team in the Chair of Data Science, Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, we are looking for a

Data Scientist (f/m/d) with focus on Big Data

with a full-time work contract (E13 TV-L) for an initial period of 3 years and the option of doing a PhD.

Your tasks:
- You will enrich our team with new research topics at the interface between machine learning and databases.
- You will investigate new methods for efficient indexing of large-scale data.
- You will take responsibility in research projects and help us with the acquisition of new projects.
- You will present your research results at national and international conferences.
- You will support the teaching activities of the Chair of Data Science and develop exciting teaching concepts for future courses.

Your profile:
- University degree (Master, Diploma, or PhD) in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics or a related field.
- You have a very good understanding of algorithms and data structures and have already gained experience with modern database technologies.
- You have advanced knowledge in at least one modern programming language (e.g. Python, Java).
- You are passionate about new topics (e.g. blockchain, IoT and cloud technologies) and have a high degree of creativity and initiative.
- Your are fluent in German and English (written and spoken).
