The UCBL (Université Claude Bernard de Lyon) opens CPJ (Junior Professor Chair). The research will be done at the LIP (Laboratoire de L'Informatique du Parallélisme) and the teaching at the Department of Computer Science. The research profile is in theoretical computer science. The person recruited will be involved in one of the laboratory's themes compatible with the profile. Applications on new themes will also be considered. The teaching in the computer science department can be done at the Bachelor and Master levels. They may include themes such as algorithms, programming, algorithmic complexity, decision support and operations research.

Presentation of the laboratory
The research conducted at LIP covers many aspects of computer science, from the most fundamental to the most applied and from the most theoretical to the most practical, including: algorithms and graph theory, statistical learning, computer arithmetic, computer algebra, high-performance computing, combinatorics, compilation, algorithmic complexity, cryptography, distributed computing, quantum computing, programming languages, logic, computational models, parallelism, formal proofs, scheduling, networks, semantics, verification.

Presentation of the department
Presentation of the Computer Science Department : the Computer Science Department of the UCBL prepares Bachelor and Master students for jobs in computer science by providing training combining theoretical knowledge and technical/practical skills in computer science. It has around 950 students and includes more than fifty professors and teachers. The department's teacher-researchers are also involved in the training of other UCBL components (Polytech-Lyon, Mechanics and Mathematics Department).

Practical details
The CPJ (Chaires de Professeur Junior) are a new type of academic position in the French university system. After a period of 3 to 6 years on a fixed-term contract, the person recruited is to be given a tenure as a University Professor. The teaching load during the fixed-term contract period is 64 hours per year. The recruited person will benefit from a research funding of 200 000 euros.

The candidate should have a PhD and a few years of research experience. International applications are welcome and knowledge of the French language is not required.

Persons to contact
It is recommended to contact the laboratory and the department quickly.
