[DMANET] Several PhD/Postdoc Positions in Research Training Group "Mathematics of Interdisciplinary Multiobjective Optimization"

******************************************************
Several positions in the DFG Research Training Group
"Mathematics of Interdisciplinary Multiobjective Optimization"

The Research Training Group "Mathematics of Interdisciplinary
Multiobjective Optimization", funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG)
and hosted by the RPTU in Kaiserslautern, offers ten doctoral positions and
one postdoc position starting in January 2025.
******************************************************

About us:

We are an interdisciplinary group of mathematicians, computer scientists,
and engineers working together on challenging projects, all dealing with
optimization problems that have multiple objectives. Our collective
expertise spans linear, discrete, and combinatorial optimization,
nonlinear optimization, robust optimization, operations research,
scheduling, game theory, scientific computing, engineering
thermodynamics, and microelectronic systems design. Read more about
the project at https://math.rptu.de/mimo

We offer:

We offer an excellent research environment at the RPTU in Kaiserslautern
with close links to the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Mathematics (ITWM).
Within the Research Training Group, we provide a comprehensive qualification
and research program, including seminars, courses and workshops, and a
visitor's program. Experience with innovative methods, networking, and
publishing will be gained. Although working in an interdisciplinary environment,
doctoral students still pursue the doctoral degree in their respective departments
(i.e., mathematics, computer science, mechanical and process engineering, or
electrical and computer engineering).
Further information is available at https://math.rptu.de/mimo

The positions are paid according to TV-L E13 (100%) and limited to three
and a half to four years. The RPTU in Kaiserslautern strives to raise the
proportion of women in its workforce and explicitly encourages applications from
qualified women. Applications from disabled persons with essentially the same
qualifications will be given preference.

Your qualifications:

Applicants should have a strong background in mathematical programming,
optimization, and mathematical modeling as well as an extensive knowledge
in the design and analysis of algorithms which is reflected in an excellent
Master's degree (or equivalent) in mathematics, computer science, engineering,
or related subjects. The prerequisite for employment is a successfully completed
university degree in one of these subjects. Since this Research Training Group
is interdisciplinary, applicants with different profiles can apply for the various
positions to be filled. Very good written and verbal communication skills in English
or in German are required. We also expect successful candidates to be active
team players in the Research Training Group.

Application process:

Applications should include:

* Letter of motivation in which up to three of the projects of the Research Training
Group are prioritized, see https://math.rptu.de/mimo
* CV,
* Copies of degree certificates with full academic transcripts

and be submitted in digital form (one pdf document) to
Prof. Dr. Stefan Ruzika, stefan.ruzika@math.rptu.de

by October 15, 2024. Alternatively, applications can be sent by mail to

Rheinland-Pfälzische Technische Universität Kaiserslautern-Landau
Prof. Dr. Stefan Ruzika
Paul-Ehrlich-Straße 14
67663 Kaiserslautern

In this case, we request to submit only copies of official documents, as we
cannot return materials after completion of the application process.

The RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau (RPTU) is the technical university of the
federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate with over 20,000 students, more than
300 professors and around 160 degree programmes. As a place of top-level
international research, it offers excellent working conditions and career
opportunities. Those who study, research or work at RPTU experience a
welcoming and globally-oriented environment and shape the future.RPTU
stands for the diversity of all employees. We welcome applications from all
interested parties, regardless of their ethnic and social background, age, religion,
gender, disability, sexual orientation or identity. Severely disabled persons and
persons with equivalent status are given preference if they are suitably qualified
and suitable. RPTU strives to increase the proportion of women in areas in which
women are underrepresented.
