The School of Business and Economics (SBE) aims to combine high quality education with excellent research. The School offers four Bachelor's programmes (Economics and Business Economics, Econometrics and Operations Research, Business Administration and International Business Administration), seven Master's programmes among which the MSc in Spatial, Transport and Environmental Economics (STREEM), two research masters among which the Tinbergen Institute's MPhil programme, and seventeen postgraduate programmes. The school has several research groups with an outstanding international reputation. SBE accommodates approximately 4,300 students and 1,700 postgraduate students. Over 500 staff members are employed at the School.
Logistics research group
The logistics research group of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam focuses on solving real-life problems in distribution logistics, including performance analysis, distribution and transport network optimization, and supply chain coordination. The group operates in a strong international research and industry network, participates in various national and international research projects and regularly organizes international conferences and workshops. Group members collaborate with leading researchers at several international universities and research output is published in leading academic journals in the field.
What we are looking for
To support the logistics research group's research and teaching activities, we are looking for candidates with strong quantitative modelling skills and an interest in solving real-life problems in logistics and operations management. You have:
• A (nearly) completed PhD thesis in Operations Research, Operations Management, Management Science or equivalent;
• A strong interest in solving real-life problems in logistics and operations using state-of-the-art quantitative methods and empirical data witnessed by international scientific publications;
• Good teaching and communication skills to interact successfully with students, industry and academic partners.
For a position of associate professor, we additionally expect a strong publication record and an ambitious research pipeline targeted at publications in top international journals, the ability to initiate and build up a line of research, as shown for instance by acquisition of external funding and Ph.D. supervision, experience in teaching and curriculum management and the ability to establish and foster networks with international logistics and science-driven institutions and organizations.
What we are offering
A 6 year tenure track position in which you will have the opportunity to develop your own research track and contribute to the research group's research agenda.
Research budgets are available for conference and research visits. Talented female candidates are eligible for a Hermine Weijland Fellowship grant which offers additional research support.
After 5 years your tenure will be evaluated but earlier tenure decisions are possible. The position at the Associate level is initially for a period of two years, with the intention to turn the position into permanent employment.

Salary
The salary will be in accordance with university regulations for academic personnel, and depending on experience, range from a minimum of €3.475 up to a maximum of € 4.757- gross per month for an Assistant Professor and € 4.815 up to a maximum of € 5.861 for an Associate Professor, based on a full-time employment.
