The Department of Algebra of the Charles University, Prague, Czechia, is
opening a position of assistant professor specialized in computational
complexity aspects of algebra or logic, or in model theory related to
algebra.
Applications are invited from candidates with a solid international
recognition and publishing activity in some of the above fields. We expect
a positive attitude towards pedagogical work, ability to integrate
scientific activities, teaching and supervision of student theses,
including training of doctoral students. A long-term foreign experience is
expected.
We offer an initial contract for three years. A successful candidate is
expected to start the habilitation process within the duration of the first
contract. In case of successful habilitation and mutual satisfaction, we
will offer a permanent contract.
The teaching load is max. 8 hours per week. The expected starting date is
September 2022, but it is negotiable.
The Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at Charles University is the leading
Czech institution in mathematics. The School of Mathematics has about 110
academic positions, covering most of the major areas. We have highly
motivated and well educated students in our mathematics programs. The
Department of Algebra offers an open minded international environment, with
outstanding conditions for independent research. Currently, we have 16
permanent and 15 postdoctoral positions, about half of the department staff
is international. The department hosts a project funded by the European
Research Council on Symmetry in Computational Complexity (Libor Barto).
