The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Frank Vallentin on Project C1 (Symplectic capacities of polytopes) within the CRC/TRR 191 on Symplectic Structures in Geometry, Algebra and Dynamics (see http://www.mi.uni-koeln.de/CRC-TRR191/).
We are looking for excellent students with a master degree in mathematics / computer science / physics who have a strong background in at least two of the following areas: mathematical optimization, convex / discrete geometry, symplectic geometry, development and implementation of new mathematical algorithms.
