The Research Centers OM and ORSTAT of KU Leuven (Belgium) are offering a
position for a full-time PhD student. The position is associated with a
research project that aims at the design, theoretical analysis, and
computational evaluation of optimization algorithms for planning resilient
network infrastructures.

We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with a strong background in
mathematics, theoretical computer science, or operations research, who
recently completed their master's degree or is about to complete it in
2022. Good knowledge of combinatorial optimization (algorithms, network and
scheduling problems, mathematical programming etc.) and/or strong
programming skills are an asset.

KU Leuven is the largest university of Belgium and ranked among the top 50
universities in the world. Leuven is a beautiful and liveable city with a
large and international student population in the heart of Europe, only a
20min train-ride from Brussels and well-connected to many
other European metropoles. Our faculty is located in the historic city
center, just a 5min walk from the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Groot
Begijnhof".

We offer employment as a full-time doctoral scholar for initially one year,
renewable for up to four years after positive evaluation. Salary is
competitive and funds for conference travels, participation in summer
schools, and other activities are available. The tentative starting date is
October 2022, but later dates are possible, depending on the availability
