Scope
This conference will bring together top researchers, practitioners, academics and students from around the globe to discuss the latest advances in the field of computational intelligence and other areas of artificial intelligence, as applied to real world problems in biology, bioinformatics, computational biology, chemical informatics, bioengineering, and related fields. Computational intelligence approaches include artificial neural networks, fuzzy logic, evolutionary algorithms, hybrid algorithms, and other emerging techniques.

Confirmed conference activities:

* Long + short paper presentations
* 2 x keynote speakers
* 3 x tutorials
* 1 x workshop
* 3 x special sessions
* 1 x special journal issue

Workshop on Computational Intelligence Tools
CIBCB 2022 will hold a workshop on Computational Intelligence Tools for Bioinformatics and Computational Biology. In this workshop, participants will present software tools that they have developed. The tools must employ any form of computational intelligence and address any problem related to the main application areas of the conference. The goals of the workshop are to help make researchers aware of existing tools that they may wish to use, and to foster discussion and collaboration regarding other possible uses and enhancements for such software tools. The tools may be described in a short paper, or have been used as part of research presented in a full paper. See the conference website<https://cmte.ieee.org/cis-bbtc/cibcb2022/> for full information on how to participate in this workshop.
Short papers
CIBCB 2022 has also introduced a short papers track. We invite prospective authors to present preliminary findings from work in progress, or industry perspectives on issues relevant to CIBCB 2022. Short papers are limited to 2 pages in length (including results, figures, and references), and will be desk reviewed by the organizational committee. Accepted short papers will be included in a separate non-IEEE website, but not in conference proceedings. As such, we welcome presentation of work intended for later publication in other avenues.
Topics of interest include but are not limited to:
• Analysis and visualization of large biological data sets
• Biomedical data modelling and mining
• Biomedical model parametrization
• Brain computer interface
• Ecoinformatics and applications to ecological data analysis
• Emergent properties in complex biological systems
• Emerging techniques in bioinformatics
• Epidemiology and pandemic mitigation
• Gene expression array analysis
• Medical imaging and pattern recognition
• Metabolic pathway analysis
• Modelling, simulation, and optimization of biological systems
• Molecular sequence alignment and analysis
• Molecular evolution and phylogenetics
• Neuromorphic integration of bio- and neuroinformatics
• Robustness and evolvability of biological networks
• RNA and protein folding and structure prediction
• Structure prediction and folding
• Systems and synthetic biology
• Treatment optimization

The use of computational intelligence or artificial intelligence must play a substantial role in submitted papers.
