approximations algorithms, sublinear algorithms, distributed algorithms,
FPT algorithms, algorithm engineering, computational geometry and online
algorithms.
The applicant will contribute to the planned study programs in Computer
Science, as well as to the programs in Mathematics-, Economathematics,

place no later than in the sixth year after taking office. On this
basis, a decision is made as to whether the candidate will receive a
permanent position at W2 level. Both evaluations are conducted in
accordance with the Regulations for Quality Assurance in Tenure Track
Procedures of the University of Cologne
(https://am.uni-koeln.de/e34120/am_mitteilungen/@88/AM_2021-89_Neufassung_TT-Oplus_ger.pdf).

As a rule, the teaching load comprises four weekly hours per semester in
the first phase of the W1 position, 5 weekly hours per semester in the
second phase, and nine semester hours per week in the tenured phase
(i.e., two hours per week is one 90-minute course per semester). The
University of Cologne is committed to equal opportunities and diversity.
Women are especially encouraged to apply and will be considered
preferentially in accordance with the Equal Opportunities Act of North
Rhine-Westphalia (Landesgleichstellungsgesetz – LGG NRW). We also
