The Combinatorial Optimization and Graph Algorithms Group at TU Berlin
(http://www.math.tu-berlin.de/coga/ ) invites applications for a research
position in the project "Robust Optimization for Network Appications
(B23)" within the DFG-Research Center MATHEON "Mathematics for key
technologies" ( http://www.matheon.de/ ), starting June 1st, 2010 or
later. The projects expires on May 31, 2014.
We are looking for a master or postdoc who is experienced in the area of
discrete optimization, in particular in combinatorial optimization,
integer programming, and their applications, and has a good knowledge of
software development with Java or C++.
The successful candidate will develop new optimization methods and
algorithms for robust optimization in network applications that will be
used in several other Matheon projects. Working towards theoretical as
well as practical results are both intended. He or she will collaborate
with 10+ researchers in our group, interested in areas such as
combinatorial optimization, integer programming, network flows,
scheduling, online and robust optimization, graph theory, and their
application to and implementation in practice. There is no teaching
obligation.
Candidates must have a qualified master degree or a PhD in mathematics,
computer science or a related area, relevant publications, and a very
good knowledge in at least one of the areas: integer programming,
combinatorial optimization, network algorithms. He or she should have
experience in software development with Java or C++ and the willingness
to work in an interdisciplinary group on projects with scientific and
industrial partners.
Payment will be at the Berlin BAT IIa level.
More details in German and English about this and other Matheon
positions can be found at http://www.matheon.de/about_us/jobs.asp
