Computing Sciences at Durham University (UK) is looking for two PhD
students working in the European funded Marie Curie Initial Training
Network (MCITN) "SCALing by means of Ubiquitous Storage (SCALUS)"; see

Specifically, we are looking to fill positions
ESR 5: Load Balancing and Balls-into-Bins Games
ESR 6: Vulnerability measures for networks
with the main supervisors being Tom Friedetzky
(http://www.dur.ac.uk/tom.friedetzky/) and Hajo Broersma
(http://www.dur.ac.uk/hajo.broersma/), respectively.
The candidates should have a solid background (or at least strong
interest) in theoretical computer science, discrete mathematics,
combinatorics, graph theory, probability theory. However, due to the
nature of the project, we expect an interest in applicability of
theoretical concepts and approaches as well.
