Postdoctoral Research Associate in Optimisation

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral researcher associate (PDRA) position in the area of Optimisation. The PDRA will join the Management Science group of the Kent Business School and work on a prestigious multi-disciplinary project funded by the British Academy's Global Challenges Research Fund: Cities and Infrastructure<https://www.britac.ac.uk/global-challenges-research-fund-resilient-cities-infrastructure> programme and led by Dr Scaparra. The project, titled "Optimal investment strategies to minimize flood impact on road infrastructure in Vietnam", focuses on development of multi-period optimisation models for strategic, long-term planning of mitigation actions against flood disasters in urban areas using the city of Hanoi as a case study. The project will involve close collaboration with Vietnamese researchers, government agencies, and industry stakeholders.


Applicants are expected to hold a PhD in Operational Research / Management Science, Mathematics, Computer Science or a closely related discipline. The ideal candidate will have a firm knowledge of integer programming and heuristic methods and a demonstrated interest in infrastructure planning, transportation and logistics. Good computer programming experience as well as excellent written and communication skills is essential. Applications will be assessed based on relevant skills and previous publication record.

Salary: £33,518 - £38,833 (Grade 7)
