Call for Expression of Interest
The Institute of Mathematics and Informatics of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (IMI-BAS) welcomes expression of interest by postdoctoral researchers, offering to host highly motivated mathematicians and computer scientists, who wish to apply for a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship or a National Scientific Program "Petar Beron" Fellowship. Successful candidates will be affiliated with the International Center for Mathematical Sciences<https://icms.bg/>, Sofia (ICMS-Sofia), which is part of the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics.
The Institute of Mathematics and Informatics is the biggest research organisation in these fields in Bulgaria, with 9 separate departments and 19 permanent research seminars. It is also the leading institute in the country in the development of post-doctoral programs and educational activities on multiple levels. Each year the institute welcomes more than 200 foreign scholars on various research forums, exchanges and collaborations.
The institute has excellent gender balance and experience distribution and maintains a diverse, inclusive and dynamic work environment, focused on both pure and applied research.
The following fields have been identified as the basis for potential postdoctoral fellowships with leading researchers of IMI-BAS, however applicants are also encouraged to suggest other topics in their research statements:
◦ Optimal Codes
◦ Steganography
◦ Bounds for codes and designs in polynomials metric spaces (PM-spaces)
◦ Finite geometries and their applications to coding theory
◦ Combinatorics and finite geometry related to coding theory and cryptography.
◦ Polynomial/spline/rational approximations of univariate and multivariate functions on a compact set with applications in efficient implementations of numerical algorithms.
◦ Physics informed neural networks for solving nonlinear hyperbolic equations with applications in black holes
◦ Machine and Deep Learning Technologies for Cultural Heritage
Researchers, interested in applying for a fellowship send a CV, list of publications and research statement to pdj@math.bas.bg, with a copy to peter@math.bas.bg and director@math.bas.bg.
