the Advanced Study of Collective Behaviour* (CASCB), one of the German
Clusters of Excellence, a cooperation between the *University of Konstanz* and
the *Max Planck Institute of Animal Behavior*.
The successful applicant will join an interdisciplinary environment for the
study of *collective behaviour in animals and robots* that is unique
worldwide as it combines researchers from several disciplines, including
biology, physics, computer science, neuroscience, and psychology. For more

As part of the research group led by Dr Andreagiovanni Reina (
https://giovannireina.com), the PhD student will employ mathematical
modelling, multiagent simulations, and collective robotics experiments
to *design
and implement algorithms of collective behaviour for large-scale robotics
systems* that operate without a central leader, such as robot swarms.
We welcome applicants with an MSc degree in Computer Science, Robotics,
Physics, or a field relevant to the project. We expect good programming
skills, interest in working on an interdisciplinary project on collective
behaviour, and strong motivation. The working language is English.
