PhD student (TV-L E 13 75%)
The earliest possible starting date is April 1, 2024, initially for a limited period of three years. The place of work is Ingolstadt. Provided that requirements are met, remuneration in the private-law employment relationship will be according to the pay grade E 13 TV-L.
About us
The Professorship of Operations Management focusses on fundamental and application-oriented research with analytical methods (operations research, machine learning, data-driven optimization, game theory). The focus of the applications lies in transportation logistics, mobility, urban logistics, production planning, and supply chain management. In research, collaborations with national and international universities exist. Routing and delivery planning tools as well as new logistics concepts for urban areas have been applied in various industry and research projects.
Research environment
The student will be part of the Department of Operations at the Ingolstadt School of Management in Ingolstadt, Germany, where several PhD students and PostDocs work on related problems in the area of logistics, production planning and supply chain management. Further, the Professorship is Associated Member of the Mathematical Institute for Machine Learning and Data Science (MIDS) at the KU in Ingolstadt.
Requirements
We are looking for a motivated candidate with background in Management, Economics, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field and experience with Operations Research methods (e.g., mathematical programming, machine learning, reinforcement learning) . Ideally, you have expertise in programming of algorithms or mathematical modelling. Additionally, we expect to support the teaching in our programs Digital-and-Data Driven Business and Business Analytics & Operations Research in German and/or English (German language is no requirement).
