[DMANET] DIMACS Postdoctoral position

DIMACS, the Center for Discrete Mathematics and Theoretical Computer Science, based at Rutgers University, invites applications for a transdisciplinary DATA-INSPIRE postdoc

The DATA-INSPIRE Postdoc is in a new transdisciplinary (TRIPODS) Institute based at DIMACS on Data Science for INtelligent Systems and People Interaction that involves faculty from Computer Science, Mathematics, and Statistics with a focus on data science principles and the emerging convergence of humans with machines. Applicants should be recent PhDs in computer science, math, or statistics, with a demonstrated interest in working across these disciplines.

TRIPODS (Transdisciplinary Research In Principles Of Data Science) is a National Science Foundation program that supports the development of collaborative Institutes that bring together the disciplines of mathematics, statistics, and theoretical computer science and emphasize the theoretical foundations of data science.

DIMACS is a consortium of several universities (Rutgers, Columbia, Georgia Tech, NJIT, Princeton, RPI, and Stevens) and corporate research labs (AT&T, Avaya, IBM, Microsoft, NEC, Nokia, and Perspecta). Research and education areas at DIMACS include algorithms, combinatorics, complexity, privacy and security, discrete and computational geometry, optimization, graph theory, data science, artificial intelligence, and machine learning, with applications in sustainability, epidemiology, genetics, networks, transportation, security, and economics.

We believe that research and society benefit from a diverse workplace, and strongly encourage applications from women, minorities, individuals with disabilities, veterans, and students with non-traditional backgrounds.

Experience: This position is intended for a person who has completed a Ph.D. in Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Operations Research or a related field within the last three years.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Selection is based primarily on demonstrated technical excellence within the relevant areas of mathematics, statistics, theoretical computer science, data science, AI, and related fields.

Special Instructions to Applicants: Applications are due April 5 for full consideration. Applicants should provide a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, a research statement highlighting their current, past and planned future research, and the names/e-mail addresses of three references.
