[DMANET] Ph.D. position Machine Learning / Statistical Physics / Evolutionary Programming

The Hamacher group (Dept. of CS, Dept. of Physics, Dept. of Biology) at
Technische Universität Darmstadt invites applications for the position of a

Research Assistant/Ph.D. Student (all genders) – 50%
for a first term of 3 years, with the possibility of extension.

The group focus on computational method development with a strong
emphasis on interdisciplinary cooperation.

Main topics are:
* machine learning method development, e.g., Ising models
* methods of statistical physics and entropy related concepts
* computational (bio)statistics
* heuristic optimization, genetic and evolutionary programming

Ideally, you have a university degree (Master, Diploma) with a
background in one or more of relevant areas (physics, computer science,
bioinformatics, mathematics). The successful applicant is expected to
support the teaching of B.Sc. and M.Sc. courses in these areas.

The scope and field of the Ph.D. research is to be discussed, but the
Ph.D. program can be chosen from the departments of physics, computer
science, or biology.

The Technische Universität Darmstadt intends to increase the number of
female employees and encourages female candidates to apply. In case of
equal qualifications applicants with a degree of disability of at least
