We are pleased to give a notice of the above OR conference scheduled for
Dakar in March 2010, at the Université Cheikh Anta Diop (UCAD). The
third OR Practice in Africa (ORPA) conference follows on from the
meeting which jointly took place with the National conference of the OR
society of South Africa in Cape Town, in September 2007. The 2010 ORPA
conference will focus on the use of Operations Research (OR) in Africa
to aid development and promote sustainable growth through the use of
some of the cutting edge techniques to our field. This year, the
following OR applications are of special interests:
OR in Transport and Logistic
§ /Urban Transport Network Design/
§ /Public transportation studies : design and optimization/
§ /Traffic Control/
§ /Multimodal Freight Network Design/
§ /Vehicle routing: applied in waste collection, bus
itineraries, etc./
§ /Optimization of port operations/
§ /etc./
OR in Energy and Environment Management
§ /Renewable Energy System Optimization/
§ /OR in natural resources management/
§ /Operational Research Models in the management of Agricultural
Resources/
§ /Operational Research Models in the management of Forestry
Resources/
§ /Optimization in Soil Sciences/
§ etc. //
OR in Water Resources Management
§ /Water Network Design, Management and Control/
§ /D//elivery //W//ater //R//esource //M//anagement //Optimization/
§ /Real-time management of Water Resources/
