SUMMER SCHOOL ON GEOMETRIC AND ALGEBRAIC COMBINATORICS
Sorbonne Université, Paris, France
June 17-28, 2019
web: http://gac-school.imj-prg.fr/
e-mail: GACschool@imj-prg.fr
This two-week summer school will present an overview of a selection of
topics in the crossroads between geometry, algebra, and combinatorics.
It will consist of four one-week mini-courses given by leading experts,
complemented with supervised exercise sessions, lectures by invited
researchers, and research presentations by junior participants. The
school is aimed at young researchers in geometric and algebraic
combinatorics and related fields, although any interested researcher is
welcome to participate. We expect the school to be an opportunity to
bring together researchers from different backgrounds and foster new
interactions. This school is part of the ongoing ANR project CAPPS.
MINICOURSES
First week (June 17-21)
• Federico Ardila (San Francisco State University & Universidad de
los Andes), "Geometry of Matroids"
• Martina Juhnke-Kubitzke (University of Osnabrück), "Algebraic and
combinatorial aspects of face numbers and Stanley-Reisner rings"
Second week (June 24-28)
• Isabella Novik (University of Washington), "Combinatorial and
topological aspects of face numbers and Stanley-Reisner rings"
• Bernd Sturmfels (University of California at Berkeley & Max
Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences Leipzig), "Polyhedral
Subdivisions in Non-Parametric Statistics"
CALL FOR TALKS
The program will include some research presentations by junior participants.
To submit a contributed talk, follow the instructions on the conference
website.
The submission deadline is February 27th, 2019 and decisions will be
communicated in March.
More detailed and up-to-date information can be found on the conference
website.
REGISTRATION
There will be registration fees covering coffee breaks:
• 100€/week for early registration before March 27th, 2019.
• 150€/week for registration before May 29th, 2019.
As the lecture rooms have a limited capacity, the registration works on
a first come first served basis and might close earlier.
Registration will open on February.
More information will be soon available on the conference website.
FINANCIAL SUPPORT
Limited funds are available to partially support junior participants.
To apply for financial support, follow the instructions on the
conference website.
The application deadline is January 30th, 2019 and decisions will be
communicated in February.
More detailed and up-to-date information can be found on the conference
website.
