A PhD student position in Computational Geometry is available at the
Faculty of Informatics, Università della Svizzera italiana (USI),
Lugano, Switzerland, under the supervision of Prof. Evanthia
Papadopoulou. The candidate will conduct research in Geometric
Algorithms on topics related to nearest-neighbors, Voronoi diagrams,
variants of higher-order and cluster Voronoi diagrams, considerations
related to generalized sites or higher dimensions, applications in
data visualization.
The candidate should have or be close to obtaining a Master's degree
in Computer Science or Mathematics and have an affinity with
Algorithms. The ideal candidate should have a keen interest and a
good background in Algorithms, Theoretical Computer Science,
Algorithms Engineering, or Discrete Mathematics, have excellent
academic qualifications as well as good communication and
collaboration skills. Experience in Computational Geometry is most
welcome but it is not required. Good programming skills is a great
plus. Fluency in English is required.
