Goethe University Frankfurt am Main invites applications for the position of

*Professor for Algorithms and Complexity (Open Rank W2, tenure track or W3)*

in the Institute of Computer Science at the Faculty of Computer Science
and Mathematics. This civil servant or public employee position will
start as soon as possible.

Depending on qualifications and experience, the appointment is made to a
professor W2 with tenure-track or a professor W3.

In case of the appointment of a professor (W2 with tenure-track) this is
a tenure-track position for an initial six-year term. If tenure is

engineering. Research directions sought include, but are not limited to,
the following areas:

- Scalable algorithms and data structures
- Modern complexity theory
- Theoretical foundations of machine learning

Experience in acquiring third-party funding is expected, as is a
willingness to collaborate with existing working groups in the
department. The professorship should ideally play an active role in
strengthening interdisciplinary research and teaching between
mathematics and computer science, as well as within the university's
profile area "Space, Time & Matter" (https://tinygu.de/UZLww).
Additional cooperation opportunities for joint research/ third-party
funded projects arise in the context of the new professorships at the
Centre for Critical Computational Studies (C3S)
(https://www.c3s-frankfurt.de/) and as part of the strategic alliance of
Rhine-Main Universities (RMU). Furthermore, the professorship is
expected to contribute to teaching within the computer science programs,
particularly at the undergraduate level.

Goethe University is actively committed to equal opportunities,
diversity and inclusion. In particular, we are welcoming applications by
qualified women and people with a migrant background. At Goethe
University, a special emphasis is placed on creating and sustaining a
family-friendly work and research environment. Where applicants are
otherwise equally qualified, preference is given to candidates with
disabilities or equivalent. The same applies to women in fields in which
they are under-represented.
