Dear all,
I am offering a *PhD position* in Mathematics at *City University of
London, UK*, to work with me in the area of Topological Data Analysis
(TDA). The expected start date is October 2025 (with some flexibility). If
you are interested, please feel free to contact me at this email address,
ideally by *15 December 2024.*
You can find more information about the areas I work in on my website (
https://ximenafernandez.github.io ).

The project will focus on the following topics:

- Geometric inference and Hodge theory
- Dynamical systems on geometric graphs
- Computational geometry and topology
- Homotopy invariants from point clouds
- Applications to data/model analysis problems

The position is for 3 years, covers full tuition fees, and provides a
stipend in line with the UKRI standard (approximately £21,000 net annually,
adjusted for inflation). A budget for travel (conferences, research visits,
etc.) is also available. There is also the option to work as a Teaching
Assistant at the university.
The position will be based at City University of London, where we have a
dynamic research environment, with regular seminars and meetings in
collaboration with TDA groups from other universities in London, Oxford,
and surrounding areas.
*Requirements*:

- Master's degree or similar qualification in Mathematics or related
field (by the start of the PhD).
- Background knowledge in Algebraic Topology, Geometry, and/or Algebra
(desired).
- Experience with algorithms and coding (desired).
- Enthusiasm and motivation for research :)
- Fluent English (written and spoken).

If you have any questions or would like to discuss this opportunity, feel
free to get in touch (the official university call will open in January
2025).
Best regards,
Ximena
