[DMANET] PhD position in Computational Music Research at EPFL Lausanne

The group of Discrete Optimization at EPFL Lausanne, Switzerland offers a PhD position in the field of computational music research. The position is affiliated with the Sinergia project "Towards a Unified Model of Musical Form: Bridging Music Theory, Digital Corpus Research, and Computation". This collaborative and interdisciplinary project is funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF).

The primary goal of the project is to develop efficient algorithms for the automatic analysis of large musical corpora. The envisioned research is rooted in algorithm design, discrete optimization, machine learning, and musicology.

Necessary prerequisites for the PhD position are:
- a master's degree in mathematics or computer science
- experience in the field of algorithms
- programming skills
- interest in music (ideally proficiency in some instrument)

The prospective starting date is March 1, 2025.

PhD applications should be submitted to the doctoral school of Mathematics at EPFL https://www.epfl.ch/education/phd/edma-mathematics/ until December 15.
