The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the Free
University Berlin
invites applications for a junior professorship (W1) in Discrete
Mathematics.
Particular areas of interests are graph theory, extremal and
probabilistic combinatorics,
additive combinatorics. Junior professors' employment is limited to
three years and, provided a
positive evaluation, a second term of three years' duration.
At the Free University Berlin many courses are taught in English, however a
non-German-speaking appointee will need to be able to teach in German

The Free University Berlin (with the motto "International Network
University") has been selected as one of the "elite universities" of
Germany. An English language graduate program, the Berlin
Mathematical School (http://www.math-berlin.de/), was established in
cooperation with the
other two research universities of Berlin and keeps attracting excellent
graduate students
from all over the world. Discrete Mathematics has a great tradition
in the city and enjoys a unique status with the Research Training Group
"Methods for Discrete Structures" (http://www.math.tu-berlin.de/MDS/) in
place.
