Excellent candidates are sought for a post doc on distributed
computing and network algorithms at the Technion, Israel. The
candidate will need to compete, since a Technion committee that will
select a number of candidates (in various Technological areas, not
just distributed computing). The proposing host (Shay Kutten) will
add additional funding to a winning candidate in Distributed computing
and network algorithms.
Some current subjects the proposing host has been working on are
distributed checking of global properties and their impact on
distributed complexity, network scheduling, location, load balancing,
caching, self stabilization (including its applications to network
security), energy saving as a target function in designing efficient
networks and protocols, protocols for wireless (cognitive) networks,
game theory in forming distributed systems, distributed computing in
electronic commerce, and more.
The Technion is among the world leading places for research in
distributed computing and related areas. Active seminars and course on
the subject are given in 3 departments (IE, EE, and CS). The faculty
of Industrial engineering and management is known in research in
various related areas such as operations research, optimization,
probability theory, game theory, scheduling, etc.
The first round of selecting a candidate is on December 1st, so it is
very desirable that applications are submitted before that time.
Please also arrange for reference letters to be sent to
kutten@ie.technion.ac.il. (I realize this is a short notice, please
send at least the names of the people who you expect to send such
letters, no later than a few days later).
