Konstanz offers a
PhD Position / Research Assistant
(Salary Scale 13 TV-L / 100 %)
in the DFG-funded project "Improving Flat Panel Displays by Discrete
Optimization", led by Andreas Karrenbauer. The successful candidate will
conduct research in the areas of Discrete Optimization and Algorithm
Engineering.
The position is available immediately, for a duration of up to 3 years with
the possibility for an extension. In principle, this position could be divided
into two half-time positions.
The research project is associated with the Zukunftskolleg, an
interdisciplinary research center funded by the German Excellence Initiative,
at the University of Konstanz, which was recently successful in reaffirming
its status as a top-level university in a national competition. Konstanz is
beautifully located on the German side of Lake Constance, and borders directly
on Switzerland.
Candidates must hold a Diploma / Master's degree in mathematics, computer
science or a related area, and must have a very good knowledge of discrete /
combinatorial optimization and algorithm theory. Good programming skills (C++)
are desirable.
