A highlight of PODC 2012 will be the presentation of the
Edsger W. Dijkstra Prize which was won by:

- Maurice Herlihy, J. Eliot B. Moss, Nir Shavit, and Dan Touitou
for their groundbreaking work on Transactional Memory.


There will also be two invited talks:

- David Peleg (Towards an Algorithmically Usable SINR Model for Wireless
Communication)
- Scott Shenker (Software-Defined Networking: History, Hype, and Hope).


In addition, there will be an invited "Industrial Session" with:
- David Dice from Oracle (Synchronization - A Practitioner's Report), and
- Harry Li from Facebook (Practical Consistency Tradeoffs).


Finally, there are three workshops on July 19 co-located with PODC:

- FOMC 2012: The 8th ACM SIGACT International Workshop on Foundations
of Mobile Computing (Formerly known as DIALM-POMC)

- LADIS 2012: The 6th Workshop on Large Scale Distributed Systems and Middleware

- WTTM 2012: The 4th Workshop on the Theory of Transactional Memory
